About Us
Karen and Dan have been riding horses in both the Western and English styles for a combined 55 years. Karen began showing competitively in 1992 and has been professionally instructing riders since 1995. Dan began starting colts for ranchers in 1992 and in 2004 began instructing riders and their horses. Both Karen and Dan use the Natural Horsemanship Training methods as they believe that this form of training doesn't drive the spirit out of the horse. The method uses positive energy, consistency, and patience. Karen and Dan prefer Natural Horsemanship as it helps a horse and rider bond and makes the horse a more respectful partner. By using this method, the horse becomes responsible by learning to be soft and responding to a light feel, as opposed to being forced into positions with training devices.
Karen and Dan teach a variety of students varying from age 3 to age 70. Karen and Dan's goal for horses and their riders is to get back to the basics and build a solid relationship. Karen and Dan work with the rider and their horse by teaching the rider different techniques that the horse understands.
You can expect to see Karen fine tuning and showing customer horses as well as their own. Dan works with problem horses and starts colts. He also shows young horses for their customers.
